Assembly Instructions

1. Build Base Frame

  • Assemble rectangular walnut frame.
  • Use:
    • Mortise & tenon joints
    • Or domino joinery
    • Or dowels

Clamp square.


2. Attach Folding Legs

  • Install hinges at upper leg pivots.
  • Test folding clearance before final tightening.

3. Install Stretchers & Braces

  • Add rigidity to legs.
  • Ensure legs lock solidly when opened.

4. Mount Maple Top

  • Center top on frame.
  • Allow seasonal wood movement.
  • Use elongated mounting holes.

5. Drill Bench Dog Holes

Use:

  • 19mm brad point bit
  • Drill guide recommended

Keep holes perfectly vertical.


6. Install Front Vise

  • Reinforce underside mounting area.
  • Align vise with dog hole row.

Recommended Finish

Maple Top

Best finishes:

  • Danish oil
  • Hardwax oil
  • Satin polyurethane

Avoid thick glossy finish on work surface.


Walnut Base

Recommended:

  • Rubio Monocoat
  • Tung oil
  • Matte polyurethane
